The main tasks and purpose of the laboratory are the tasks of the educational process, as well as the tasks of mathematical modeling, automated design, which are focused on the development of control systems. At the same time, the capabilities of the laboratory allow you to implement both a professional approach to solving such problems and an educational or educational approach. For mathematical modeling tasks, such powerful mathematical systems as MatLAB and Mathematica, Simulink or (for the initial stages of the educational process) simpler systems such as MultiSim MS Office are used. Applied programming is implemented in Delphi and JAVA systems. For professional work, scientific research and calculations, the systems presented in the section “Information, software and other equipment of the laboratory” are used. In addition, the software of the laboratory allows training of specialists in WEB-design, office technologies, teaching work on the Internet, as well as the basics of network administration.

System architecture

 

The basis of the laboratory is a local computer network that connects two network segments that are physically located in computer classes 5.509 and 5.503. A typical network segment in which a server (aka the main or backup domain controller) acts as a gateway or router. This architecture of the network segment is well balanced for the tasks of the educational process, has high survivability, is convenient for further scaling or integration in both homogeneous and heterogeneous networks. The use of such segments allows you to ensure independent management of access and resources, thereby forming local and well-isolated areas of administration accessible for inspection.

The main information resources of the department are physically located on the main server of the laboratory domain 5.509.

 

These resources are supported by dedicated software servers and are only available in the intranet of the cafe for registered users. Registered users include students and teachers of the department, as well as students and teachers of other departments, united in a separate group with a slightly lower level of access.

It is especially important to note that our students have the right to copy any file from the WEB or FTP libraries without restrictions and free of charge.

Application software

 

The department’s software is physically located on each user’s computer, which ensures a high level of system viability and allows guaranteed provision of the educational process. The software consists of general software and software systems for modeling and automation of design in the directions of training students of the department. The table below shows the type and characteristics of the software designed for modeling and design automation.

Directions of technical and scientific development of the laboratory

The basis of the further development of the laboratory is the development of the architecture of the department’s local computer network. The architecture of such a union is shown in the figure next to it and is oriented towards further scaling of the system both according to the “star” topological scheme and according to the “common bus” scheme. Carrying out such work will significantly increase the level of stability of the system for the educational process and eliminate the dependence of disciplines on the placement of necessary information resources of general purpose.

 

The next step is to plan a significant expansion and ongoing maintenance of technical WEB and FTP libraries of general technical and educational purpose. It is planned to actively involve both teachers and students of the department in the process of supporting libraries.

 

Currently, the resources and capabilities of the laboratory are used for the educational process to the extent of almost 100%. Such resources make it possible to research new information processing technologies, test and prepare for implementation new methods of providing educational material, perform support work for electronic libraries, create new and edit existing electronic textbooks, perform scientific and research work using mathematical modeling and automated design systems.

 

Our department makes maximum efforts to train students with high professional education, but our capabilities are limited by an outdated technical base.
